July 26 @ 7:00 pm - July 28 @ 6:00 pm$285
This navigation workshop is an overnight backpacking adventure to use modern technology and a map with compass to navigate. Learn to read mountainous terrain and get better at picking your route.
We will begin this adventure on Friday night with a classroom session to teach map reading, map plotting, and how to use your compass, altimeter and map. On Saturday morning, we will head out to the trail head to start our adventure. While taking in the beautiful scenery of the South Canadian Rockies, we will teach you to use the right tool for on and off trail navigation.
We are stoked to help you prepare for your next adventures and to do this safely and mindfully.
Is this the adventure for you? This experience is meant for people who have hiked before and want to go to the next level. You will want to be fit enough to carry a backpack that is ideally a third your weight and carry it uphill. You will have gone backpacking before and you want to become better and make better choices in the backcountry. You may even want to start to make your own routes in the mountains (where allowed), rather than always following a trail.
