It is time to take your backcountry skills to the next level. With Uplift Adventures, you can gain valuable knowledge from our certified guides who have trained crews to work in the backcountry. We can teach you to be mindful and make good decisions while taking your next adventure.

(JULY 12 - 14)

Are you ready to start exploring the backcountry and staying overnight, but don't know where to start? Uplift Adventures is hosting their 'Wood Life' (Intro into Backpacking) program to build your confidence in the outdoors so that you can make good decisions in the backcountry.

INTRO INTO BACKPACKING

The Wood Life (aka Intro Into Backpacking) is an overnight introductory course to build on your skills to stay in the mountainous, backcountry overnight. At Uplift Adventures, we value building your confidence in the backcountry and teaching you to make good decisions.

We will begin this adventure on Friday night with a classroom session to get your head in the game and eyes on the prize. We will go over how to pack, trip plan and prepare for your adventure. On Saturday morning, we will head out to the trail head to start our adventure. While taking in the beautiful scenery of the South Canadian Rockies, we will teach you field skills including navigation, backcountry cooking, efficiencies, safety, and more.

We are stoked to help you prepare for your next adventures and to do this safely and mindfully.

Is this the adventure for you? This experience is meant for people who have hiked before and want to go to the next level by overnight backpacking. You will want to be fit enough to carry a backpack that is ideally a third your weight and carry it uphill. You may have even tried backpacking before and you want to become better and make better choices in the backcountry.

Do you want to take your backcountry skills to the next level? Use both current technology and map with compass to travel on and off trail. This course will give you the tools to navigate through mountain terrain.

NAVIGATION

This navigation workshop is an overnight backpacking adventure to use modern technology and a map with compass to navigate. Learn to read mountainous terrain and get better at picking your route.

We will begin this adventure on Friday night with a classroom session to teach map reading, map plotting, and how to use your compass, altimeter and map. On Saturday morning, we will head out to the trail head to start our adventure. While taking in the beautiful scenery of the South Canadian Rockies, we will teach you to use the right tool for on and off trail navigation.

We are stoked to help you prepare for your next adventures and to do this safely and mindfully.
