Crowsnest Mountain Spirit Festival (The Story)

Uplift Adventures is a co-founder and an event organizer for the Crowsnest Mountain Spirit Festival, which is derived from the annual United Nations International Mountain Day on December 11th. International Mountain Day is a day to recognize the rich biodiversity of the mountains and that our mountains are at risk due to climate change. Mountains provide us with fresh drinking water and are fragile ecosystems. Crowsnest Mountain Spirit Festival was developed to celebrate the unique mountain culture that exists in the South Canadian Rockies. In 2020, this would be our 4th year celebrating this event and several of our events are not running this year for obvious reasons.

Our role at Uplift Adventures is to either donate our time and skills, or to offer low cost events. We donate most of the proceeds either back into the festival or to worthy charities. We believe that we should give back to our community so that our community can grow. One of our main pillars with our business is conservation, and our slogan is ‘Explore with Purpose’. Explore with Purpose comes from our second stage of business as we start to offer conservation based tourism. The owner of Uplift Adventures studied Environmental and Conservation Sciences at the University of Alberta and worked in this industry for several years before starting her own business. Her heart is in the mountains as she continuously advocates for environmental protection and access for sustainable outdoor recreation.
