Take some time for you and your girlfriends! This is a wonderful way to de-stress, breath in the fresh air, and enjoy the mountain life. Our girl’s weekend is lead by an ACMG Hiking Guide, one bad-ass female and will take you into the South Canadian Rockies. We will explore, share laughs and stories, and eat some darn good food. Calories don’t matter so much when you are burning them off! Yay baby!
Girl’s Weekend Backpack
The location of these trips are kept on the down low. As a professional guiding company, we have decided that we want to share with you some of our favourite spots, but they are favourite spots because they are off-the-beaten-path in the Canadian Rockies. If everyone knew about them, then they wouldn’t be the same.
These trips are lead by a professional female guide, someone trained and certified to take others into remote areas in the mountains. What is the difference between a guide and a club lead? It does depend as both can have strengths and weaknesses, but the biggest difference is that a professional guide has been vetted through a series of exams and standards in order to be able to take people outdoors. The ACMG process is a minimum of a two year program and even more if you consider the amount of experience needed to be accepted into the program.
RATING: Moderate – Difficult | Expect 10 – 14km per day with elevation gain/loss
Is this the adventure for you? This is physically demanding and does require some fitness. If you have never been backpacking before, we recommend that you take our Intro to Backpacking before trying out this adventure. Remember, you are hiking in the mountains with a backpack (25 – 35lbs).
PRICE (2 DAY): $325/person + GST
PRICE (3 DAY): $475/person + GST
GRATUITY: We always say that we do not expect gratuity, but it is appreciated. We never want you to feel like you should spend more money than you already have and will not ask you for a tip. If you really want to give the guide a tip, they will graciously receive it with much gratitude.
PLEASE NOTE: 4 people minimum for this trip to occur; 8 people maximum
Day 1 | 8am | We will meet at Stone’s Throw Café and drive to the trail head. Driving time can be up to an hour on backcountry roads.
Expect between 10 – 14km of backpacking in mountainous terrain (this means elevation). It is not easy, and some physical endurance is required. We will have lots of time for breaks along the way to the campsite location.
The camping location will likely not have washrooms or facilities. We will practice leave-no-trace methods while in these remote locations.
At the campsite, you will have some time to explore, meditate, or read while our guide prepares dinner. Or hang out with the guide and gain some local knowledge.
Day 2 | 7am | Rise and shine. It is time to get the day started. We will pack up our bags, eat breakfast and head onto the trail by 9am.
Expect a similar distance as Day 1. For the 2-day backpack trip, plan to return back to the vehicles between 2 – 3pm. However, timing always depends on the group’s ability, so do not plan activities immediately after the trip.
Day 3 | 7am | ONLY FOR THE 3-DAY BACKPACK TRIP. Again, Rise and shine. We will pack up our bags, eat breakfast and head onto the trail by 9am.
Expect a similar distance as Day 1, but we will try to keep it easy. Plan to return back to the vehicles between 2 – 3pm. However, timing always depends on the group’s ability, so do not plan activities immediately after the trip.
